Incredible beach, big surfing waves, beautiful steep stairs, an interesting shipwreck history!

Florencia Bay, named after the ship that was wrecked here in 1861 is certainly one of the most amazing places in the world.  Just a short walk to the beach you descend down a wonderfully sketchy tangle of wooden stairs onto a spectacularly incredible beach.

You see it as you approach from the trail above. Through the tangle of trees you see the majestic waves approach from the awesomely distinct horizon.  The sound of the waves catches you in a trance.

The rainforest spills over the perfect beach into the distance in both directions.  Hemmed in by two distant points of land, Florencia Beach is sheltered from the wind while funnelling massive waves into the shore...

Nuu Chah Nulth Trail                                       Best Easy Hikes Tofino - Ucluelet

A beautiful 1 hour hike from the Florencia Bay Trailhead to an amazing museum and wonderful restaurant

The Nuu Chah Nulth Trail gives a glimpse of First Nations culture as it meanders 2.5 kilometres through the rainforest from the Florencia Bay trailhead to Wickaninnish Beach.  At Wickaninnish Beach there is the wonderful Interpretation Centre, the Kwisitis Visitor Centre, as well as Wickaninnish Restaurant which juts out from the shoreline, above the crashing waves all around.  The views are amazing no matter where you are seated.

The Kwisitis Visitor Centre is an astonishingly well thought out little museum.  The exhibits are amazingly well designed and crafted.

Both the Kwisitis Visitor Centre and the Wickaninnish Restaurant lay in the rainforest of Quisitis Point that separates Wickaninnish Beach and Florencia Bay.  The restaurant has incredible views and the museum is free!  Another great feature is the location.  It is perfectly combined with a hike to the beautiful Florencia Bay as they both start from the same trailhead.  Although if you want to drive directly to both the restaurant and visitor centre you can as the parking lot is located just a 5 minute drive from the Florencia Bay parking lot.

The Wild Pacific Lighthouse Trail                      Best Easy Hikes Tofino - Ucluelet

A wild and rocky coastline and forest of gnarled, weather blasted trees located at the beautiful edge of Ucluelet

This wonderful smooth gravel trail winds its way through an amazingly gnarled coastal forest to beautiful ocean viewpoints and past the Amphitrite Lighthouse.

There are several beach access points to get you closer to the dramatically wild Barkley Sound.  The trail is 2.7k long and should take you 45 minutes if you don't stop, though of course you will, so expect to take a couple hours to take in the wonderful views.

The Spruce Fringe Trail                                     Best Easy Hikes Tofino - Ucluelet

Amazing wooden boardwalk through the rainforest ending at a wonderful beach

Located at the end of Long Beach, 15k from Tofino, the Spruce Fringe Trail is a wonderful combinationof large trees, extraordinary fallen trees, a wild, rocky beach and an intricate and steep wooden walkway.

Long Beach                                                       Best Easy Hikes Tofino - Ucluelet

Long beautiful, never-ending sandy beaches and crashing waves at the centre of Pacific Rim Park

Beautifully located in between Tofino and Ucluelet in the centre of Pacific Rim Park is the wonderfully long, Long Beach.  Not much of a hike as you park steps from the sand.  But a seemingly endless beautiful beach walk in either direction.  And of course excellent surfing.  Long Beach is great as it has a fun, open atmosphere.  There is always lots going on.  Surfers, walkers, runners, all in this dramatically beautiful setting.  It's 17k from Tofino and 24k from Ucluelet and beautifully desolate feeling.
